Getting your required 24 hours of continuing education hours just got easier! The Center for Continuing Education offers over 300 hours over 36 courses to meet your needs. We also have many pre-packaged courses based on your license type including:

  • General Lines for Life/Health agents
  • General Lines for P&C agents
  • Texas County Mutual agents

Our Texas adjuster and agent continuing education courses are online and have been approved by the Texas Department of Insurance. We have over 300 hours of classroom equivalent courses which meet the requirement of at least 15 classroom equivalent hours by Texas.

Don’t Worry!

Our online courses do not require final exams! They are broken into manageable units with a quiz at the end of each unit. We also provide correct answers and rationale for those answers you might miss. You get to retake the quiz as many times as you need to achieve a passing grade and move to the next unit.

How to Renew Your License

Step 1:

Complete your continuing education requirements:

The majority of license types require 24 hours of CE, including 2 hours of ethics or consumer protection (Note this requirement changed from 30 hours to 24 hours effective 9/1/2015). The CE requirement by license type is below:

  • Property, Casualty, and Surety for agents and adjusters
  • Life/Health for agents
  • General Lines for Life/Health agents
  • General Lines for P&C agents
  • Texas County Mutual agents

NOTE: At least half of the hours must be classroom or “classroom equivalent.” Our courses are classroom equivalent and meet this requirement.

To begin, choose either Packaged Courses or Individual Courses

Step 2:

Renew your license:

About 85 days before your license expires, a perforated renewal invoice is sent from the Texas Department of Insurance to your last known mailing address on file with TDI. Tear-off the bottom portion of the renewal invoice and return with your fee. You may return the renewal invoice in the pre-addressed envelope with a check or money order

Renew by credit card through Texas.gov or Sircon

Step 2:

Nonresident Licenses:

You are subject to continuing education requirements of your resident state, sometimes referred to as your home state. These continuing education hours do not need to be reported to Texas. The only time a non-resident is required to report continuing education to Texas is if he or she holds a Texas Designated Home State (DHS) adjuster license.

Texas Continuing Education Course Overview

We’ve designed our courses to be online and are broken into small “units” to make studying easier and stress-free. There is no need for you to download courses and take a final exam!

There is a quiz at the end of each unit. To progress from one unit to the next, you must pass the quiz by obtaining a score 70% or better. If you fail the quiz, don’t worry as the course takes you back to the unit for review and to retake the unit quiz. This process is repeated until you pass the unit quiz.

During the quiz, you cannot back up to find the answer in the study materials. However, you can use your own personal notes but you may not use any other person’s notes or help during a quiz.

When you complete the quiz, the course shows you your answer, the correct answer and an explanation of the correct answer. The unit quiz is a monitoring tool used to track your time studying the unit and responses to the questions.

Upon successful completion of the course, we will email you a certificate of completion and report the hours to the Texas Department of Insurance the next business day.
