Course Objective

Texas Annuity Certification and Continuing Education (CE) Annuity Certification Courses. Texas Insurance agents who want to sell annuities on or after January 1, 2022, must now take new or revised certification courses that will be offered through approved CE Providers. The courses include “Best-Interest” training, which outlines the requirement that agents act in the best interest of the consumer at the time the annuity recommendation is made.

Continuing Education (CE) Requirements:

Annuity CE requirements have not changed. Agents are required to complete eight hours of annuity- specific CE each term after certification. You can visit the Sircon website to check your transcript and view available courses. www.sircon.com.Resident Agent who has completed a certification training course before January 1, 2022

You must complete one of the following TDI approved courses:

§ A new four-credit training course after 6 months after January 1, 2022. § A revised one-credit training course within 6 months after January 1, 2022.Resident Agent who has not yet completed any training courses. You must complete the new four-credit training course approved by TDI. Non-resident Agent

You must either:

§ Take the new four-credit training course approved by TDI.§ Take a course approved by a state that complies with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) annuity “best-interest” training requirements. (You are responsible for providing proof of required annuity training if requested. TDI does not post continuing education completion information for agents who take courses from other state insurance departments.)§ Complete a four-credit training course in your resident state and complete the revised one-credit course approved by TDI.
